We’re sad to announce that we will be closing down Fig + Needle on December 21st, 2025. We want to take this opportunity to thank everybody who supported us, and a special thank you to everybody who has used our patterns. Through Fig + Needle, we were able to meet many talented creators who share our love for sewing, and the past seven years working on this company has been one of our greatest life achievements.
It’s been a long and difficult process to make this decision, and it is not one that we make lightly. We both had newborns in 2020, and due to a lack of childcare during the COVID pandemic, we were forced to go on hiatus. By 2023, we had developed another pattern, but our first priority was our families, and we lost a lot of our momentum. Now that it’s 2025, we each have new projects, and while we are sad to be saying good-bye to Fig + Needle, we’re very excited to share with you what’s coming next.
Ping has been working on some new projects (like sewing a sample of this amazing coat pattern!), and has also been getting back into ballet.
Sandra is still making patterns for herself, and has started teaching sewing workshops. If you’re in or near Seattle, come take a workshop at Wool Friends in Ballard! Here are Sandra’s upcoming workshops for winter 2026:
We’re both working on our blogs, with Ping posting on Peneloping again, and Sandra building out a new site, Treadlet. We’re also both very lucky to be near weaving studios, and have been spending a lot of time recently making fabric and listening to audiobooks.
Thank you again to everybody in the community who connected with us as we worked on our patterns. To show our gratitude, we’ve set some sale prices on everything in the shop:
PDF pattern downloads are now $10 per size range. PDF patterns will be available through Dec 21st.
Paper patterns are bundled with both size ranges, for $25. Paper patterns can be ordered until Dec 18th, and will be shipped out Dec 19th.
Note: while shipping is free, due to border difficulties, paper patterns can only be shipped within the USA.
We wish you all the best, and happy sewing!
